The Dormitories on the Red Bird Mission campus are filled with students and excitement. Many familiar faces can be seen around campus as we welcome students back to school. Daniel, a returning student from South Korea, had this to say about why he returned this year, “Because I wanted to go to a Christian school to make a relationship with God.” A local student from Harlan, Steven, said he choose Red Bird Christian School to be in a Christian environment. Steven also considers ‘getting saved’ as his greatest accomplishment. Both boys confessed Jesus and their Savior while living at the Boy’s dormitory on Red Bird Mission’s campus.
Several new faces are among the students moving onto campus, and many of these new students are a result of word of mouth advertising. Thirty-nine students are enrolled for the Dorms currently. We have a total of 19 boys on campus with 1 more to add second semester. Our Boys Dorm will be full after this second semester addition. The Girls Dorm still has a few open slots, but does have a larger student capacity.
The Leadership Program started last year will be expanding this year to offer returning students an opportunity to build on last year’s curriculum while still offering the first year track for incoming students. Other new opportunities available for students in leadership and academics such as classes in advanced math, fine arts, and greater use of technology in the classroom will markedly change the way we educate students at RBCS. The building blocks set out by Dr. Collins to compete with elite boarding schools and allow students to explore their God given talents and the path God would have them follow has launched us into a new era.
Gale Nantz, Head Dorm Parent, had this to say about the start of the year; “We are so excited for what God has in store for our dorm program this year; how we will grow and become a family, while training up the future leaders for our world. We are blessed.”
